flickr recognized yet again for complete disregard of its users
This complaint comes from a friend who asked to remain anonymous. remember, complaints are like cockroaches: when you hear one, there are a thousand more you don't hear.
"They really did leave me alone. I never got NIPSA'ed or had any trouble myself personally -- however, I strongly disagreed with protested against the censorship policies in principle.
[...]
When the new Terms of Service came in -- I saw its flaws and tried to organize another protest -- but people were apathetic and laughed at me.
As more and more of my contacts had their streams deleted -- without proof, without warning, without explanation, without redress, without apology -- I decided to not post or participate on Flickr any more.
The staff are bumblers and bunglers. The company takes a contemptuous stance and tone towards its users. And because the community no longer has the tight-knit group of committed regulars it once had -- there is no way to fight back.
The best way to protest Flickr is to quit Flickr outright -- or just use it for storage while you showcase your photography in other online venues.
The day Yahoo took over was the day that Flickr -- as we had known it -- ceased to exist.
Flickr is a lost cause."
