professional ignorance ii

Just got this one:
"I mentioned to you that I saw the neurologist the other day and that he is an asshole, right? I didn't tell you why. ... the main one was his response when I mentioned my concerns about AS to him. He glanced right over what I said and responded by saying

"we don't worry about AS in adults"....
I almost fell over on the fucking spot. It left me absolutely SPEECHLESS... [when] I am sure that I will never have to see him again, I'm going to send him a long, informative, NASTY letter and tell him what a misinformed asshole I think he is. FUCKER."
To this i say (aside from "HOLY FUCKING SHIT, THE IGNORANCE!!!"):

"Professionals of the world, go knock on this fucker's door because he included ALL of you when he said "WE don't worry about..."

.
.
.
.

sigh...

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!

THE IGNORANCE!!!

You are absolutely right, moreover, I believe that doctor deserves even more serious reactions and measures, because his ignorant is obvious 'mistreatment': The counselor I talked for my daughter yesterday said in his 15 years perofessional life he only had TWO ADULTS WITH AS AND ONE CHILD DIAGNOSED as AS, so he confessed that he did not know much about AS but he indicated that he will search more about the syndrome.

So, do not lose your insistence to get neceassary attention and treatment, because none of the professional can say such a thing: "We do not worry about AS in adults!" THIS IS NOT IGNORANCE, THIS IS MALPRACTICE.

And to me this piece of shit even does not deserve to be warned and reminded by your email. I would find another doctor more educated, wiser and experienced in this area as much as possible. Leave settling his hash someone else who has time and money to spend to seek justice because of such jerk's mistreatment and malpractice.

But, do not listen to me, I got so angry. Actually you are right, if you send him such email it is possible that he can be aware of adults with AS more than before.

Yes some doctors are way too cocky and carried away with themselves. Unfortunately they fail to realize that their formal education has left them unable to think outside the box or see the forest for the trees. They are too busy reducing everything down to it's smallest parts thinking somehow this allows them to come up with solutions. It's the same idea of say trying to create something to control pollution verses just not polluting. I have witnessed time and again how they over-complicate the simple. This is why I mostly see only a Chinese doctor now. However I do know of one doctor who is different than most.

What a rude doctor!

I looked up the word "dismissive" in Webster's Dictionary and Roget's Thesaurus,
but both books were surprisingly unhelpful.
Good thing I'm writing my *own* thesaurus of emotional terms.
So: Here are some words you may wish to use in your letter:

dismissiveness; unconcern; can't-be-bothered attitude; don't-bother-me attitude; don't-care attitude; lazy.

Other terms: insensitive.

Also you should call him on his "pluralization of self" --
notice how he referred to his own individual attitudes as "WE don't worry about...."?
I call it The Blowfish Tactic. He pluralized himself in order to look bigger. ;^)

blowfish... damn that is brilliant. i've seen this in action so many times and never had a word for it. Human beings are such primitive creatures. The few of us that can really see are a danger to the egos of the rest...

lacosta's right, too; this is not ignorance, it is malpractice! i say it should be treated as such. i advised the person who shared this experience with me to do as much.

doctors and other god-complex professionals are all too ready to forget that they are supposed to be providing a service and they can be fired. They also have standards by which they can and should be measured. Trying to invent their own realities by using dismissive blowfish language should get them in as much trouble as lying under oath in a court of law.

But then, where is the law?

In the hands of those with money and power.
